The European Union has come to the decision to delay the launch of implementing the Entry/Exit System again. After a series of delays followed by an almost confirmed launch date of November 10, Entry/Exit System Delays by EU push back the date further.
Home Affairs Commissioner Ylva Johansson announced the news of this delay while take part in a meeting of the interior ministers of the EU. She explains some of the main reasons why this delay actually happened. Main Reason Behind Entry/Exit System Delays by EU
Commissioner Johansson has shared that the launch date of the Entry/Exit System (EES) is postponed.
She shared that the primary reason for this is that three of the European Union countries – Germany, France and the Netherlands have shared that they are not ready to implement the new system.
These countries have also stated that they will not be ready to finalize their border computer systems on time. This will lead to issues to registering and processing the people who enter the EU for different types of visits.
Commissioner Johansson has expressed concern regarding this new development. However, she is hoping that the European Union can being implementing the new EES system as quickly as possible. She also hopes and emphasizes on the point that the new timeline would not be too far.

Commissioner Johansson has shared about an alternative regarding the launch of the Entry/Exit System.
Instead of implementing it all across the EU on the same day, it can be launched in a phased manner. But, even though, this decision may be taken in the future, the gradual implementation of EES system will not begin on the 10th of November 2024.
According to the previous statements of a spokesperson from the interior ministry of Germany , the centralized systems that will be required and need to be provided by the EU-Lisa were not in place yet .
Whatever the reason may be, travellers will not be impacted in the near future because of the delay in the EES System Launch .
